November and the rains have returned.

November

Here we are in November and the rains have returned and yet again the rivers are in flood.

As 2012 comes to its close our thoughts are of the unusual weather this year.

We started the year with a winter drought and early season closures of several stretches of canal.

Before these closures had been in place for a few weeks, down came the rain.

The rain was a feature of the summer with short sunny spells but many weeks of very unsettled weather.

Those with boats based near or on rivers have had an anxious season watching the rise and fall of the rivers.

Now at years end we again have high rain fall and early cold snaps.

Has this affected our cruising?

No we have had some wonderful cruises this year, the weather can have benefits to the flora and this autumn has been spectacular and well worth the battle with the leaves on the propeller.

Now with most of our boats undergoing winter maintenance we are all looking forward to planning our trips in 2013.
