Blooming countryside

What a change in the countryside!

While we were out cruising the Caldon the summer suddenly arrived.
The flowers and leaves burst out and the countryside became full of birdsong and sunshine.
We were so very lucky to have a fantastic cruise and were to witness wonderful natural changes in the space of a few days.
During this time we had a few problems as all of the crew had come prepared for cold and wet conditions so we had a long walk to a chemist to purchase factor 50 and an short stop to the charity shop to buy shorts and light tops.
It has been 6 years since travelling up the Caldon last and it was a cruise to remember for all of the crew there were very few boats about and the weather was truely summer. One memorable sight was a Black Prince hire boat approaching with what appeared to be a steerer with no clothes. It was a man of older years in the smallest pink speedo's!

Whilst we were moored at the Leak basin just before the tunnel we heard a thunder like sound and suddenly a herd of young cattle rushed down the slope to drink and wade in the water. Picture below.
